The Dagger Katana was designed to inspire confidence in the paddler with a balanced rocker profile for speed on the flat and manoeuvrability in white water. The hull is designed for great initial stability while the bevelled and flared side-walls create predictable secondary stability. The rounded stern deck shape, taken from the Mamba design, sheds water easily, making it forgiving in moving water. The Katana also offers a more spacious cockpit than traditional white water designs for a less confining feeling, this alone makes it a great choice for anyone wanting to make a start on moving inland waters.

The rails are a little soft for larger surf but it works quite well in smaller playful waves with a little bit of skeg down. Likewise for coastal exploring it is highly manoeuvrable which is great for exploring tight little gullies on fairly gentle water days and with the skeg down it will track pretty well across open water sections. With a secure hatch on the rear deck giving access to a pretty decent storage area you can take a fair bit of kit with you too, enough for a day out on a secluded beach, a proper picnic break on a river bank or a load of back-up safety kit on a long big river run.
