Enigma Code - Carbon Foam Core
Lightweight Cranked Touring Paddles
For those looking for all out performance we recommend the Enigma Code with a cranked (bent) carbon shaft and carbon foam core blades. The bent shaft positions your wrists in a more natural position and is designed to both limit strain on your muscles/joints as well as reduce fatigue for those paddling longer distances. The foam core blades also aim to reduce fatigue and provide noticable buoyancy which many find useful when rolling.
As with all Enigma Code paddles the foam core edition has an adjustable ferrule which provides 360 degree feather and up to 10cm length adjustment. This helps tailor your paddle to suite your body type and paddling style and allows for adjustments in respect of changing conditions.
In adverse conditions it can help to shorten the shaft, increase feather and go for a high angle high cadence approach however in calmer conditions stretching out the shaft length and using lower angle, low feather and low cadence style can work well. On longer trips varying paddling style can provide relief from fatigue that can build up from repetitive muscle use.
Note
Foam Core Blades are optimised for touring performance over durability, particularly with heavy use. As such, those looking for paddles for use in surf/rockhopping environments should opt for a standard glass or carbon blade construction.
