The Gumotex Thaya combines the proven strength and durability of Nitrilon with the rigidity of dropstitch technology to produce an inflatable to rival plastic sit on top kayaks.

The Thaya is a 2 person kayak made from single skin Nitrilon fabric which is rubber based and contains no plastic. Its supple skin sheds water, dries quickly and can be folded down to a smaller packsize than boats with an inflatable bladder inside a cordura skin. Gumotex boats have been made for decades and they last for decades too!

So far, so Gumotex. However the Thaya is the first Gumotex boat to have a dropstitch floor and the first to use Nitrilon in this construction. Dropstitch is a way of allowing the boat to hold more pressure and keep its shape - a typical Gumotex boat will be pumped up to around 3PSI which is already double that of most other inflatable kayaks. However, the floor of the Thaya can take up to 7.2PSI due to the thousands of dropstitch threads holding it together. This allows the Thaya to be way more rigid and this gives the hull a better shape, more stability and crucially more efficient paddling.

In addition there are adjustable seats for better outfitting and in fact the boat can be paddled easily by one person by placing a set in the middle. The whole lot packs down into a waterproof rucksack that protects both the boat and your car - it can also be used as a gear bag when paddling.

The Thaya is a serious kayak and can take you anywhere a rigid kayak can, maybe even further!
