More Details
Named after the ancient Norse goddess of spring, the Norse Idun composite sea kayak is designed for the smaller paddler but similar in shape and paddling characteristics to the Bylgja. The design features hard chines which give great primary stability and outstanding edging response. The rocker is quite pronounced to allow for easy manoeuvrability and to lift the bow over swell and breaking waves. The V-shaped hull gives fast straight tracking and allows the Idun to cut through chop and glide through the water like the goddess she is named after. There is a drop down skeg which is handily accessed from the foredeck and allows more control in a following sea or wind.
Available in fibre-glass or Carbon builds the Norse composite kayaks are constructed using vacuum bag technology which gives a smooth even lay-up, in addition to which there is aramid reinforcement in the keel and chines to ensure the Idun will take whatever mother nature can throw at her.
The Idun comes with three bulkheads/hatches for safety and storage with a smaller paddling hatch just forward of the cockpit allowing smaller items to be easily accessed on the water. There is also a compass mount and of course comfortable carry toggles on the bow and stern.
Full decklines, chart bungees and paddle stowage on deck are all handled by recessed deck fittings giving a sleek look to the topsides and also ensuring your expensive drysuit doesn't snag.
If you are a smaller paddler looking for a composite kayak to take you out into UK waters for day trips or multi-day expeditions then the Idun is a serious option at an unbelievable price. If you are looking for more carrying capacity or are a larger paddler then check out the higher volume Norse Bylgja.
