P&H Virgo LV, MV & HV

Compact lightweight sea kayak for shorter journeys
The Virgo sits at the shorter end of the P&H Sea Kayak range, being 457cm (almost 15ft) in its largest HV form and slightly shorter in the medium & lower volume versions. When built from their propitiatory 3-layer Corelite X, a wonderfully stiff and light plastic construction, the Virgo weighs in at 28kg which means car topping is a breeze and carrying down to the waterline can easily be done by one person. The V-hull cuts cleanly through the water and tracks beautifully but softens towards the centre of the boat for comfortable stability and easy release. Its length offers excellent hull speed for short to medium journeys with moderate rocker while keeping a defined carving rail (chines) for responsive manoeuvrability and edging. This kayak excels in exploring diverse coastal environments as well as lakes, longer rivers and canals. Its high stability allows you to venture into more challenging conditions with confidence but its still not 'too much boat' for local paddling on easier water or for newer paddlers still finding their sea legs.
The Virgo features all the essential research and development you'd expect from the P&H range, such as a low-profile back deck for easy rolling and re-entry including a paddle shaft recess for bracing during entry. The fore and aft hatches are fully bulkheaded and have KajakSport hatch covers to ensure secure storage and a strong seal. Virgo also has you covered when it comes to deck fittings - there are spare paddle recesses, a metal security point, a paddle park and of course full deck-lines for safety and bungees for charts etc. If that's not enough storage options then the Corelite X model also has a foredeck mini hatch.
Of course no kayak designed for being out on the water all day would be complete without a comfortable cockpit and the Virgo comes with Connect Outfitting which coupled with a high foredeck, large cockpit rim and plenty of leg room means plenty of wiggle space for cramped legs and easy entry and exit.
Overall, The Virgo is a versatile sea kayak suitable for paddlers of different experience levels from relative newcomer to seasoned kayaker. It is lively and fun to paddle for day or weekend trips either loaded or not and capable of handling a wide range of water conditions. Novices will find it un-intimidating, while experienced paddlers will appreciate its responsive and rewarding performance on the water. Everyone will appreciate its lightness and ease of handling off the water!
