More Details
The VE Aircore Vanda is designed primarily for low angle touring, the blade shape is the same as the popular Voyager however the Vanda blade tip is 60% thinner at the end. This reduces the swing weight by around 30% and provides a cleaner catch which can reduce fatigue especially when covering longer distances. They are a great choice for paddlers who enjoy covering longer distances or anyone just wanting a very efficient low fatigue blade for general paddling.
The blades look deceptively small however they do have more blade area than popular tourers such as the Enigma Code or Werner Shuna. The Aircore Vanda blades have a narrow profile and a minimal curve along the length so flutter is minimised and the power comes on progressively through the stroke. The blade profile also makes them very predictable during sculling, bow rudders, draws etc. and they do work very well for higher angle padding too. The Aircore construction provides plenty of buoyancy and support whilst in the water and the press moulded edge adds to the durability of the build.
There are two shaft options for the VE Aircore Vanda - the glass shaft is a good choice for long distance paddlers as it has a barely perceptible flex which again helps reduce fatigue. The Carbon Shaft does have a more precise feel so would be a good option for paddlers who enjoy a lively sea!
The infinite feather ferule makes these paddles suitable for right or left handed paddlers. It takes only seconds to flip the nylon lever-lock open and adjust the feather angle or the shaft length. There are no pre-set click points so you can get exactly the length and angle that suite you within the 10cm range. On a long journey regardless of conditions the change of feather, length and stroke style can be a great way of relieving the strain of repetitive movement!
Vertical Element Paddles are made by hand in Britain using pre-preg carbon and fibreglass materials and high pressure hot compression moulded construction techniques to ensure a tough build.
