The Mad River Explorer Canoe is available in 2 sizes: Explorer 14 & Explorer 16.
The Mad River Explorer 14 & 16 triple tough (TT) are great choices for those looking for a predictable, touring, or whitewater canoe. Both models feature a shallow V hull with fairly flat rocker which provides excellent straight line tracking whilst remaining manoeuvrable. Solo canoeists like the 14TT as it offers the flexibility of a 2nd person or storage capacity for a long camping trip, whereas the 16TT is very popular with paddlers looking for a general purpose canoe for all round usage.
Novices will find the 16TT easier to paddle in a straight line due to the extra length.
The Mad River Explorers are constructed using a foam core sandwiched between 2 layers of plastic, this gives the canoes inherent buoyancy and extra strength when compared to single layer plastic canoes.
