P&H Scorpio II CoreLite X
Expedition ready sea kayak in Corelite X
The P&H Scorpio was always extremely popular as a long distance sea kayak, capable of handling the roughest seas whilst carrying enough gear to last a few days away from home. Now the Scorpio MKII builds on that well regarded platform with a number of welcome upgrades which give us the ultimate expedition vehicle, especially for those seeking the reliability of a polyethylene sea kayak with its durability during rough launches and landings yet also want the stiffness normally associated with composite manufacture. It's also an excellent choice for anyone whose budget doesn’t allow for composite construction but still desires a top-tier polyethylene option. The new Corelite X material is a real surprise for those who have dismissed 3 layer plastic boats in the past as heavy and flexible compared to composite and many experienced sea kayakers have had their minds changed when paddling the Scorpio II.
The Scorpio II features a progressive hull profile similar to that of the Cetus, transitioning smoothly from a slender bow to a highly stable, slightly 'V'-shaped body with rounded chines. This design provides a smooth ride and effortless control in all conditions, not mention looking graceful and timeless.
Above the waterline, the Scorpio's deck has all that a modern sea kayaker requires. It includes numerous thoughtful details, such as recesses for secure split paddle storage and moulded-in inserts to accommodate a kayak sail mast foot. There are few sea kayaks on the market in any construction that are as feature-rich and expedition ready as the Scorpio II
